Development volunteer program provides work placement opportunity to build different infrastructure in developing country Nepal. Nepal is one of the least developed and the poorest country in the world but it is one of the richest countries of the world in terms of its natural resources. Nepal known as country with largest mountain ranges including out of 14 highest mountains in the world, 10 of them are in Nepal. It is famous for land of Mt. Everest, birth place of Buddha (Lumbini Garden) and second largest country of water resources with natural beauty and famous for friendly people in the world. Community service volunteer foundation Nepal has been initiating development volunteers program with university graduates experience working with development organizations in their area of expertise, to help them increase their understanding of development issues and participate in their roles as global citizens. The program is aimed at providing firsthand experience in community development of developing country Nepal. The program also provides space to carry out rural developmental research in Nepal either for participant’s academic as well as to gain practical experience purpose. Development volunteer program is available one month to six months depending on the nature of volunteer work in Nepal. CSVFN makes the best fit between the partner organization and the volunteer’s background, skills, and interests. To prepare them for their volunteer work experience, the volunteers participate in a one-week to two weeks orientation program at the organization in Kathmandu. Development volunteer program is unique in terms of what it offers the participants who are preparing for a work placement in developing country Nepal. Development volunteer program is also aimed at providing experience that will enhance participants’ knowledge on people centered development and improve employment opportunities when they return their home after the program. Development volunteer program is open to any applicant who sincerely wants to share his/her experience and skills. We are looking for volunteers who want to gain development experience to enhance their career development. The most important personal qualities are flexibility, cross-cultural sensitivity, positive attitude and initiative. The volunteers should have usually a mixture of people with various levels of understanding of development and travel experience. Volunteers must be in good health and have the mental and physical capability to function as a team member. Development volunteer’s professionals, retired people, students, researchers who want to apply their expertise in the field of development and research in the developing country Nepal all are welcome to apply.

Available duration: 2 weeks to 12 weeks
Experience required: It is not necessary any specific skills and qualification for development volunteer program. Upon your arrival you will receive relevant training towards the development exchange volunteer projects. If you are flexible and patient, you’ll cope better during the development exchange project and successfully complete your project as working conditions. For development volunteer project volunteer may need physical efforts, so you should be in good health. We just ask our volunteers to be flexible, enthusiastic, be patient and an open mind. Development volunteer program is open to worldwide participants, families, couples and individuals.
Project Location: Development volunteer project placements are located in all over Nepal according to your interest and chosen program. Most of the volunteer placements are located within 2-4 km. from their accommodation and volunteers use local transportation such as mini bus or taxis for their commuting.
Program start dates: Development volunteer program starts on the 1st and 15th of each month, year round.

Program Requirements: Volunteers must be 16 years or older at the beginning of the program. Volunteers need to have an open mind and flexible attitude for working in a new and different environment. The volunteer should bring energy and enthusiasm to make a difference.
Arrangement of room/food/supervision: CSVFN will manage your accommodation, food and supervision while you work in a volunteer program. You will stay either with a host family, in a project hostel or in a home base. In the home base, you’ll share your room with other volunteers and use communal toilets. You’ll be served 3 meals a day. Meals in the home base can be local or continental. In the host family, you’ll have a room for yourself and will be served 3 local meals a day. Staying with a host family will provide you with a wonderful opportunity to experience Nepali lifestyle and live with a warm and welcoming family. You can even learn to cook Nepali food. While volunteering, our staffs will visit you every two weeks. During the visit, we will check on your progress and make sure you’re satisfied and happy.
Transportation: Volunteers are met at the Nepal international airport in Kathmandu, upon arrival into Nepal. Once you are in your placement you need to work out transport for any traveling you wish to do, whether this is simply to the local shops or further a field for sightseeing. Travel will usually be by micro bus, tempo, taxi, larger buses or simply walking, several projects are just walking distance.
